About Ben Alcala
I am an IT professional who lives and works in Windcrest, Texas, in the northeast side of San Antonio Texas. The last 6-1/2 years I have worked for Rackspace Hosting, where I am currently a Linux Operations Administrator II supporting the Rackspace Cloud infrastructure.
I attend college in San Antonio and hope to complete a Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Systems and Security at Our Lady of the Lake University next spring (May of 2014). After that I am thinking of starting on a Master's degree in Computer Security at the University of Texas San Antonio.
Together with a friend I recently started up an IT consulting business called Soft-Tex Consulting. We are going to concentrate on providing IT consulting services to small businesses and non-profits who do not have full-time IT staff and need assistance with Open Source software.
